Welcome to Rocksteady Strategy, my digital sandbox for exploring strategic thinking, leadership, and the business forces shaping our world.


This project started as a personal initiative to deepen my understanding of strategy and decision-making. Not just in theory, but in the context of real-world and fictional challenges. Along the way, I’ll be documenting frameworks, reflections, and ideas that I believe can help others navigate complexity with clarity.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Hi there. My name is Ian Minnaar. 


I am very proud South African, originally born and raised in one of the warmest places on earth. Since then, my surroundings have cooled down significantly and I'm now based in the Netherlands since 2020, with my wife and son.  Any time with them is well spent. I've also got one or two (or three) too many creative hobbies that keep me busy.


Over 15 years, I’ve worked across audit, banking, real estate, and private equity, leading strategic finance projects and cross-functional teams. My approach is rooted in integrity, innovation, and growth. Any success I’ve had is shared with the great mentors and colleagues I've had along the way.


Currently, I work as a Senior Financial Manager at one of the world’s most prolific data center companies, Digital Realty, where I’m contributing to ongoing strategic finance projects and enhancing operational efficiencies across global initiatives.

Why DOES Rocksteady Strategy EXIST?

Well, like many aspiring professionals, I've had my eye on an MBA for a long time and its promise of strategic knowledge and career advancement.


But, let's face it, MBAs are pricey.


So, I've taken matters into my own hands, diving headfirst into self-learning and personal development.


Rocksteady Strategy will be my painter's canvas for experimentation, learning and developing as a strategic finance leader. Here, I'm documenting my discoveries, failures, and wins as I carve out a path that's both strategic and cost-effective.
